Yevhen MAKARENKO: “I work on reconditioning about six hours a day”

He’s been training at CERS clinic in Saint-Raphaël for almost two weeks already. There are great conditions and in his day Dieumerci Mbokani also recovered at this medical facility.

Fans all over the country care about Makarenko. They ask about his rehabilitation in social networks and want to know when he’ll be able to step back into ranks. Yevhen has told Dynamo official web site journalist about that:

- I feel better already. I’ve taken the “shoe” off and try to walk without it. Still I needed crutches for about a week after that. I also started undergoing different procedures, physiotherapy and different kinds of massage. We have a special room for that at our training complex. I worked there with Pavlo Shvydkyi. After that I trained at the gym.

- What exercises did you do?

- As I limped a bit I did some exercises to normalize my gait. I also used electrostimulator that keeps leg muscles sharp.

- Was reconditioning in France planned or maybe you rendered such decision in the course of recovery?

- That was my initiative. The thing is that everyone’s away on vacation including Dynamo medical staff. Of course someone would have worked with me if I asked for that, but there are other injured players, like Denys Harmash and Yevhen Selin, who should also be taken care of. Besides I wanted to go to the clinic, where Mbokani recovered successfully. This facility has a good reputation. The weather in France is warm, which favours proper work.

- What’s the aim of your rehabilitation in France?

- At first doctor examined me and asked to do some exercises. That let him make a conclusion that I was ready to work. Today I do more intense exercises to strengthen gastrocnemius and heel tendon.

- How much time do you spend in clinic a day?

- I come to the clinic at 8 a.m. and at 8.30 procedures start. They include physiotherapy, exercises, exercycle, massage etc. I also use special exerciser with antigravity system.

It reduces weight of my body, so it’s easier to walk or run. After that I work in the swimming pool for about one hour. Later – lunch and gym. I stay at the clinic till 3 p.m.

- Does any doctor or coach work with you?

- There’s a specialist, who follows my work and tells what to do.

 - Why is CERS clinic considered to be one of the best?

- I came to this facility for several reasons. First of all Mbokani’s rehabilitation here was a success. Besides Dynamo doctor Andriy Shmorhun was here and spoke well of this clinic.

- Are there other football players, who undergo rehabilitation there?

- Sure, a lot of players recover here. There are their shirts all over the clinic.

- Are you going to spend two weeks there?

- I was going to work here for exactly 14 days, but I didn’t know that the clinic is closed on weekends. So, next weekend I’ll return to Kyiv.

- How did you spend the last weekend?

- I met friends of mine here. We went to music festival in Cannes and then to Monaco.

I’ve also got acquainted with some guys at the clinic. We undergo procedures together.

- What are you going to do after return to Kyiv?

- I’m going to work at the training complex till December 27. I’ll ask doctors what I should do. I feel progress every day, so I guess I’ll rest for only a couple of days. Right after New Year I’ll continue working.
