On March 3 FC Dynamo Kyiv faced FC Kolos Kovalivka at the NSC Olimpiyskyi in the Ukrainian Cup quarterfinal.

Mircea Lucescu made two substitutions in the starting lineup, comparing with the recent game against FC Lviv (4:1). Mykolenko and de Pena replaced Kedziora and Rodrigues.

Both sides started the match quite actively responding with attack to attack. Kolos used wings while Dynamo attempted from distance.

Halfway through the first half Tsyhankov was injured and substituted by Rodrigues. Meanwhile Kovalivka side were attacking. Boiko reached the ball after a decent strike and then Danfa didn’t use good opportunity to appear one-on-one with Dynamo keeper. Karavayev could succeed after cross by Mykolenko, but his volley went wide.

After the break the White-Blues got more persistent while Kolos moved back counting on counterattacks. In the 65th minute Kolos head coach was sent off for arguing with referee.

Dynamo kept increasing pressure. Shaparenko attempted with a free kick, but missed quite a bit. Late in the game Besedin had two decent opportunities, but didn’t use a single one.

In extra time, Dynamo tried to create danger after set pieces, but actually failed. Minutes before the time Rodrigues had a good chance, but sent the ball over the upper V from inside the box.

So, it was all decided on penalties. Dynamo did a better job in the shootout and won 4:3.

Thus the White-Blues reach the Ukrainian Cup semifinal that will take place on April 21.
