On February 13, FC Dynamo Kyiv played the first official game is 2021 – the UPL matchday 14 fixture.

Mircea Lucescu’s men hosted FC Olimpik Donetsk at the Valeriy Lobanovskyi Stadium. The peculiar feature was that Artem Besedin appeared in the starting lineup after one-year ban. The match was intense and spectacular. Dynamo won 3:1 although visitors opened the score.

Dynamo created two decent chances within the first 15 minutes of the game. Besedin tried to score after rebound, but failed. Later Artem missed the target in another episode. Meanwhile Olimpik used their opportunity. Alvarenga obtained the ball inside the box and sent it past Bushchan.

Dynamo could equalize in several minutes: Besedin found Karavayev, Olexandr put a low cross into the penalty area, where Buialskyi sent the ball way over the bar. Anyway, Kyivans succeeded eventually. Tsyhankov took a free kick, Checkotun cleared it, but Besedin was there to head the ball in.

It should be mentioned that the match was rich on fouls and referee had to book players quite often.

In the second half Dynamo continued applying pressure. Karavayev joined a pretty good attack, but missed the goal. Tsyhankov attempted from distance. Olimpik counterattacked quite well, but Dynamo controlled the situation on the field.

Popov missed the target with a header for a wonder after good cross by de Pena while Sydorchuk sent the ball over the bar from inside the box. Things got a bit easier for Dynamo after Nkeng was sent off for the second booking. In a minute Kyiv side stepped in front. Buialskyi hit the upper V with a spectacular volley after pass from Tsyhankov.

Late in the game referee awarded a promising free kick for Dynamo and sent Lebendenko off upon checking VAR. Tsyhankov hit the post with a free kick, but Besedin was there to make it 3:1 with another header – 3:1.
