FC Dynamo Kyiv faced Budapest side Ferencvarosi TC away within the Champions League group stage matchday 2.

Both sides started the campaign with defeats. The White-Blues lost against Juventus at home while Fradi suffered lopsided defeat against Barcelona away.

Of course the game was special in a way as Dynamo opposed their former player and coach, the idol of millions of Ukrainian supporters – Serhiy Rebrov, who’s currently in charge of Ferencvarosi.

Before the trip to Budapest Dynamo coach faced new lineup issues. Bushchan and Mykolenko couldn’t help the White-Blues due to COVID-19.

Both teams started the game carefully, but still home side players were a bit more persistent. Isael unleashed the first shot of the match, but it wasn’t a problem for Boiko. Gradually Dynamo took the situation under control while Fradi got nervous.

In the 19th minute Karavayev obtained the ball inside Ferencvarosi penalty area, eluded his opponent and attempted from promising position, but goalkeeper was there. 26 minutes into the game Dynamo took a corner and Kharatin handled the ball inside the box after shot by Zabarnyi – penalty. Tsyhankov made it 0:1 from the spot.

Before the break Kyivans managed to increase the lead. Buialskyi rushed through the right side and put a low cross to de Pena. Lovrencsics tried to clear the ball, but it hit Carlos and the score became 0:2.

It seemed the comfortable score would help visitors feel confident after the break, but they let Fradi pull one back. Nguen hit the far corner from quite unpromising angle – 1:2.

Unfortunately Mircea Lucescu’s men didn’t have scoring chances any more. In the 86th minute Sydorchuk got the second booking and was sent off.

In a couple of minutes home side equalized. Boli sent the ball into the net from close range after Ferencvarosi took a free kick – 2:2.

So, it’s 2:2 – Dynamo let the victory slip away.
